Travelling to the Conference

Travel by air Book your flight through to the Victoria International Airport which is approximately 30 km north of downtown Victoria. Both Canadian Airlines and Air Canada service Victoria.

Horizon Air This airline services Seattle and Victoria with both direct and one-stop flights. Call 1-800-547-9308 for schedule information.

Car Rental The following agencies operate at the Victoria International Airport:

Transportation from Victoria Airport to Downtown The Airporter shuttle bus runs between the airport and downtown Victoria and costs approximately $14. Taxi cab fare is approximately $40 and each taxi can accommodate up to five passengers.

Transportation to the University of Victoria from the Airport The cab fare to UVic is approximately $40 and each taxi can accommodate up to five passengers. There is no direct transportation to the University other than by taxi. An alternative route is described below.

Transportation to the University of Victoria from Downtown Delegates are advised to take the Airporter bus to downtown Victoria, and ask to be let off at McDonald's Restaurant at Douglas and View Streets. At this same bus stop board the #14 UNIVERSITY Bus, which ends its run at UVic. Exact change of $1.50 will be required. Bus schedules will be available at the registration desk. Ferry BC Ferries (sailing time: 1 hour, 35 minutes). These ferries travel between Tsawwassen (39km south of Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (32 km north of Victoria) and are the recommended route for those traveling to Victoria by car. Summer hourly sailings daily from 7:00am to 10:00pm. For information, call Victoria (604) 656-0757 or Vancouver (604) 277-0277.

Bus service to Victoria from downtown Vancouver is available through Pacific Coach Lines. Phone BC Ferries, Vancouver (604) 669-1211 or Pacific Coach Lines, Victoria (604) 385-4411.

Royal Victorian (sailing time: 4 hours, 30 minutes). The ferry sails between Seattle and Victoria, with one sailing daily from each city. Car reservations are recommended. For reservations and information, call (604) 480-5555 (Victoria) or (206) 625-1880 (Seattle) weekdays.

Victoria Clipper (sailing time: 2 hours, 45 minutes). This catamaran travels from downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria, but does not carry cars. Three sailings daily. For reservations and information, call 1-800-888-2535 or Victoria (604) 382-8100.

Blackball Ferry (sailing time: 1 hour, 30 minutes). The ferry links downtown Victoria with Port Angeles, Washington. It carries cars, but drivers must phone the day before about parking for the ferry - it is on a first come, first served basis. Three sailings daily. For information, call Victoria (604) 386-2202 or Port Angeles (360) 457-4491.

Washington State Ferry (sailing time: 3 hours, 30 minutes). The ferry travels through the San Juan Islands linking Sidney, which is north of Victoria, with Anacortes, Washington. It carries cars on a first come, first served basis. Two sailings daily. For information, call Victoria (604) 381-1551.

Bus Transportation Grayline of Seattle operates daily motor coach service to and from Victoria and Seattle. Call Seattle (206) 624-5077 or Victoria (604) 388-5248.
